Power: Our Story Continues…

Our Story Continues is our way to connect parents to what kids are talking about and experiencing in the Sunday morning teaching. We want to help to equip parents and spiritual parents with Scripture, talking points, and experiential activities to continue to disciple their kids well every day of the week.

WALKERS
Summary: This week in kidmax, children worked together as a community.
Series: Community
Big Idea: We are the church together.
Key Verse: “Encourage each other and build each other up.”  1 Thessalonians 5:11
God Story: The Early Church | Acts 2:42-47

  1. READ the story of the early church in a children’s Bible or download the free e-book!
  2. SING Download “Love One Another” on the Yancy Happy Day Everyday album.
  3. HOME CHURCH. Do you attend a home church? Is it family-friendly? If it is, while you are there, be sure to point out to your child that what you are doing at home church is a lot like what the first church did when it met together! So cool! If you attend a home church that isn’t family-friendly, inquire as to whether or not you could bring your child to visit that night OR find a family-friendly home church to check out. If you don’t yet attend a home church, find one!
  4. DO. Keep scheduling time for family this week. Whether it’s a relaxed dinner together, a family nature hike, family jam-time, game night, fort-building, book reading; whatever your family loves to do together. Make time for your little community, and even try doing one of these activities with some church family members!
2-YEAR-OLDS
Summary: This week in kidmax, children learned about how the first church shared their stuff.
Series: Community
Big Idea: We are the church together.
Key Verse: “Encourage each other and build each other up.”  1 Thessalonians 5:11
God Story: The Early Church Shared | Acts 4:32-37
  1. READ Acts 4:32-37 in a children’s Bible.
  2. SING Download “Love One Another” on the Yancy Happy Day Everyday album.
  3. DO. This week, kids learned how the early Christians shared their stuff. This week, collaborate with everyone in the family to create a masterpiece. Everyone will share in the creation then everyone shares the enjoyment! This masterpiece could be art, (every member paints part of the painting), or it could be a song (everyone plays a different instrument or sings), or helps bake some cookies. Sharing means all together for the work and all together for the fun! While you’re creating together discuss ideas about sharing your kids learned this week. Besides possessions what else can we share? I.e. we share our time, stories, joys, food, attention. What is hardest and easiest for you to share? Have you ever helped someone by sharing?
