Afraid: Our Story Continues…

Our Story Continues is our way to connect parents to what kids are talking about and experiencing in the Sunday morning teaching. We want to help to equip parents and spiritual parents with Scripture, talking points, and experiential activities to continue to disciple their kids well every day of the week.

GRADES 1-5
Summary: This week in kidmax, kids were reminded that we can trust God even when we’re scared.
Series theme: GENESIS | Trust
Big Idea: We can trust God even when we feel afraid.
Bible Story: Abraham and Isaac | Genesis 22:1-19
Key Verse: “I will make you into a great nation. And I will bless you. I will make your name great. You will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you. All nations on earth will be blessed because of you.” Genesis 12:2-3

  1. READ Genesis 22:1-18. As you read, pause and ask kids how they are feeling, what is surprising to them, and what questions they have. [This is a tough story, but an important one.]
  2. WATCH the video below as a family, and share what stood out to you.
  3. SHARE about the things that you are afraid of, and pray together. Are your kids afraid of the dark? Pray that they would know God is always there with them. Are you fearful of tomorrow or things your kids will do? Share in an age-appropriate way, and pray together.
  4. CHECK OUT the midweek activity page. Use this in your family or for your family-friendly home church.
