Church: Our Story Continues…

Our Story Continues is our way to connect parents to what kids are talking about and experiencing in the Sunday morning teaching. We want to help to equip parents and spiritual parents with Scripture, talking points, and experiential activities to continue to disciple their kids well every day of the week.

Series: Live
Summary: In this series, children will discover that as we follow Jesus, he teaches us how to live! He teaches us that we don’t have to worry, he teaches us how to pray, and so much more! We just need to look to him.
Big Idea: Jesus teaches us how to live.
Key Verse:“Do for others what you want them to do for you.” | Matthew 7:12a (GNT)

  1. SING Download “This Little Light of Mine” from Little Praise Party: My Best Friend album and “J-E-S-U-S” from The Meeting House Kids album, or find them both on Spotify.
  2. READ The Golden Rule flip book based on Matthew 7:12 with real examples for children.
  3. PRAY As you pray with your little one each night, pray that your family would look to Jesus for the best way to live (e.g. Jesus, teach us how to live and help us to remember to look to you each day).

  1. SING Download “This Little Light of Mine” from Little Praise Party: My Best Friend album and “Pray Every Day” from The Meeting House Kids album, or find them both on Spotify.
  2. READ Matthew 6:25-34. Find some birds to look at outdoors or in a book, and ask your child, “How do they get food?” Talk about how God provides for the birds, and God will help to care for us. You can also look at this story in a slightly larger context in the Bible App for Kids story, The King and the Kingdom.
  3. PRAY As you pray with your child each night, pray that your family would look to Jesus for the best way to live (e.g. Jesus, teach us how to live and help us to remember to look to you each day). And pray that God would help you not to worry. Small children often worry or are afraid more at night-time. Tell them that Jesus is with them, and they do not need to worry or fear.

Grades 1-5

Summary: In this series, kids will learn from the questions of other kids. We’ve collected various questions that we will dive into throughout the series including: Why do we go to Church? Where is God when bad things happen? What is heaven going to be like? And does Jesus love bullies? Some big questions to check out this month.
Series: Campfire II
Big Question: Why do we go to Church?
God Story: Getting Together | Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25
Key Verse: Let us consider how we can stir up one another to love. Let us help one another to do good works. | Hebrews 10:24

  1. READ Acts 2:42-47.Take time to show your child how to look up a passage in the Bible. Show them how to navigate books, chapters, and verses. Ask your child: What happened before this? What happened after? What do you think that was like? Why do you think this information is included?
  2. WATCH the video teaching below with your family this week. Talk about the video as a family. What stood out to you? What did you like? What did you want to ask a question about? (Tip: If it’s helpful, consider pausing the video as you watch it together, and ask questions or talk about things that stick out to you as you go!)
