Don’t Worry: Our Story Continues…

Our Story Continues is our way to connect parents to what kids are talking about and experiencing in the Sunday morning teaching. We want to help to equip parents and spiritual parents with Scripture, talking points, and experiential activities to continue to disciple their kids well every day of the week.

Early Years

Series: Serve
Summary: In this series, children will see that Jesus loves them, Jesus teaches us how to serve, and Jesus wants us to serve others, too. Even from the youngest age, as children are learning to do so many things, learning to care for others, help, and serve are things that we believe Jesus wants us to teach them too.
Big Idea: Jesus wants us to serve others.
Key Verse: “Serve one another in love.”| Galatians 5:13
God Story: Jesus Heals a Man | Luke 18:35-43
  1. SING Download “J-E-S-U-S” from The Meeting House Kids on Spotify or Apple Music or Google Play.
  2. READ the story of Jesus healing the man from Luke 18:35-43 in a children’s Bible.
  3. PRACTICE Jesus saw a need and met that need. Through your day, help your child see different needs that arise and get excited. Say: Jesus wants us to serve others. We can serve right now by…(and share what you see.) This will help your child become attentive to needs around them.

Grades 1-5

Summary: Jesus taught many amazing things, and the truth is that if we actually believe them, take them to heart, and live them out, it’ll change not only our own lives but the lives of others around us. And when we don’t know where to start, it’s very best to start with the basics. In this series, we’ll look out the most important commandment, prayer, forgiveness, and worry.
Series: Luke | The Basics
Big Idea: We don’t need to worry. God’s got it.
God Story: Do Not Worry | Luke 12:22-32
Key Verse: “ ‘Father, may your name be honoured. May your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we also forgive everyone who sins against us.’ “ | Luke 11:2-4
  1. ASK your child: What are the things that you worry about? Why do you think we worry about those kinds of things?
  2. READ Luke 12:31-32. What did Jesus say there? What do you think that means for you?
  3. WATCH the video teaching below with your family this week. Talk about the video as a family. What stood out to you? What did you like? What did you want to ask a question about? (Tip: If it’s helpful, consider pausing the video as you watch it together, and ask questions or talk about things that stick out to you as you go!)
  4. Download the midweek activity page.
