Ridiculous: Our Story Continues…

Our Story Continues is our way to connect parents to what kids are talking about and experiencing in the Sunday morning teaching. We want to help to equip parents and spiritual parents with Scripture, talking points, and experiential activities to continue to disciple their kids well every day of the week.

Kids

GRADES 1-5
Summary: This week in kidmax, kids learned that we can always trust God.
Big Idea: We can trust God even when it seems ridiculous.
Monthly theme: GENESIS | Trust
Bible Story: Abraham and Sarah | Genesis 17-18
Key Verse:  “I will make you into a great nation. And I will bless you. I will make your name great. You will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you… All nations on earth will be blessed because of you.” Genesis 12:2-3
  1. READ Genesis 17:1-7. Ask your child: what is a covenant? What did God promise Abraham? Why did God change Abram’s name to Abraham?
  2. WATCH the video teaching below together with your family. Ask what stood out to your child. What did they like? What questions do they have?
  3. CHAT Ask your child what three things they want someday. (i.e. a dream job, have a family with kids, be a missionary, make movies, write books, invent new technology, etc.) Discuss with them what other people say about the things on their list, and what God says about it. Now ask if they would like to surrender those things to God right now, and pray about them this week. Write down the three things on an index card and place somewhere where your child will remember to pray about it and trust God with the results.
  4. CHECK OUT the midweek activity page. Use this in your family or for your family-friendly home church.
