Stronger: Our Story Continues…

Our Story Continues is our way to connect parents to what kids are talking about and experiencing in the Sunday morning teaching. We want to help to equip parents and spiritual parents with Scripture, talking points, and experiential activities to continue to disciple their kids well every day of the week.

Preschool

1-YEAR-OLDS

Series: What Does Love Look Like?
Summary: In this series, children will learn about the fruit of the Spirit, and how they all show us what God’s love looks like! Children will see the fruit of the Spirit throughout God’s story as various Bible stories highlight them.
Big Idea: Love looks like peace and patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control.
Key Verse: “The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, and peace…” Galatians 5:22

  1. SING Download “What Does Love Look Like?” from The Meeting House Kids Music album. Another fun song to check out is: The Fruit of the Spirit Song
  2. READ the story of Ruth (from Ruth 1-4) and Daniel (from Daniel 6) in a children’s Bible.
  3. TAKE your little one along as you do something kind for another person. Modelling living out our faith is an intensely important part of our children’s spiritual development.

  3. SIT with your child for a couple of minutes. Let them know that you are going to sit with them for a moment of peace. Cuddle them or hold them, and tell them you are both going to take deep breaths. OR have your child sit criss-cross-apple-sauce with you and set a timer for 45 seconds or so to sit quietly without too many wiggles. Encourage your little one to put a hand on their chest to feel themselves breathing in and out, or show them how to run an index finger over the fingers of the other hand (as if they were tracing it).

Grades 1-5

Summary: In this series, kids will be reminded of what it means to be on God’s path, and to follow Jesus, and that is how we can best impact other people as we go!
Series: Hebrews | Training
Big Idea: God can use difficulties to make us stronger.
God Story: God’s Kids | Hebrews 12:4-8

  1. READ Hebrews 12:4-8. Take time to show your child how to look up a passage in the Bible. Show them how to navigate books, chapters, and verses. Ask your child: What happened before this? What happened after? What do you think that was like?
  2. WATCH the video teaching below with your family this week. Talk about the video as a family. What stood out to you? What did you like? What did you want to ask a question about? (Tip: If it’s helpful, consider pausing the video as you watch it together, and ask questions or talk about things that stick out to you as you go!)
