Words: Our Story Continues…

Our Story Continues is our way to connect parents to what kids are talking about and experiencing in the Sunday morning teaching. We want to help to equip parents and spiritual parents with Scripture, talking points, and experiential activities to continue to disciple their kids well every day of the week.

  3. PRACTICE. Ask your child what they know about Jesus. (I just did. My daughter said, “He’s powerful, and he loves us” – not bad!) Every kid will have a different answer. Start there, and talk about Jesus at home. The more comfortable the conversation is at home, the more natural it will be for your child to talk about Jesus with others.

KIDS

GRADES 1-5
Summary: This week in kidmax, kids learned that the things we say actually matter.
Series: JAMES | Living It
Big Idea: When we live for Jesus, what we say matters.
God Story: James 3
Key Verse: “You are God’s chosen people. You are holy and dearly loved. So put on tender mercy and kindness as if they were your clothes. Don’t be proud. Be gentle and patient.” Colossians 3:12

  1. READ James 3:5-9. Ask: What does this mean? What does it say about how we talk or what we say? How do you think Jesus wants us to talk? Also, look up Ephesians 4:29 and ask: what does this mean to you? [If your kid(s) is in the older age category, look up and read together Proverbs 15:1-4. Talk through the passage and what it says about what we say.]
  2. WATCH the video teaching below with your family this week.
  3. TALK about the video as a family. What stood out to you? What did you like? What did you want to ask a question about? (Tip: If it’s helpful, consider pausing the video as you watch it together, and ask questions or talk about things that stick out to you as you go!)
  4. Check out the midweek activity page!
