You and Me: Our Story Continues…

Our Story Continues is our way to connect parents to what kids are talking about and experiencing in the Sunday morning teaching. We want to help to equip parents and spiritual parents with Scripture, talking points, and experiential activities to continue to disciple their kids well every day of the week.

Key Verse: “Come near to God, he will come near to you.” James 4:8
  1. SING Download “My Best Friend” from the Little Praise Party My Best Friend album.
  2. READ the Life of Moses flipbook.
  3. ACTIVITY Imaginary-play the story of Moses crossing the red sea with his people. Use towels or bed-sheets to pretend to be the sea, and gather some of your child’s stuffed animals and toys to be the Israelite people. Act out Moses holding the staff overhead to split the waters. Have fun by telling the story as you play.
2-YEAR-OLDS
Summary: This week in kidmax, 2-year-olds learned how God led Moses through his life.
Big Idea: God wants us to know him.
Series Theme: Knowing
Bible Story: Moses | Exodus 2-20
Key Verse: “Come near to God, he will come near to you.” James 4:8
  1. READ the Life of Moses flipbook.
  2. SING Download “My Best Friend” from the Little Praise Party My Best Friend album.
  3. PRAY God wants us to know him. One way to help your little one know God more is by taking time to pray. Pray with your child, but also pray over your child.
  4. DO Another way to help your little one know God more is by modeling God’s traits to them such as his love and his forgiveness. If they need to say sorry to you for something, be quick to forgive and make it obvious to your child that you love and forgive them no matter what.
3-SK
Summary: This week in kidmax, 3-SK learned how God led Moses through his life.
  3. SHOW and TELL This week, help your child learn more about who God is by modeling God’s traits to them such as his love and his forgiveness. If they need to say sorry to you for something, be quick to forgive and make it obvious to your child that you love and forgive them no matter what. Share with your child different ways that you get to know God more (through serving, reading your Bible, praying, etc.). Include your child in to these things as able to model well for them!
  4. PLAY Ask your child their favourites: foods, colours, games, tree, flower, etc. Explain that even though you are parent and child, you can still get to know them better by learning about them. And we can get to know God by learning about him, and experiencing him. Wonder together different things about God. Look up verses that help point to an answer in Scripture.

Kids

GRADES 1-5
Summary: This week in kidmax, kids learned that God’s peace can heal relationships. Anytime we aren’t sure how to get along with someone, ask for forgiveness, or make friends, kids were reminded that they can pray and ask God for help.
Big Idea: God’s peace can heal relationships.
Series theme: GENESIS | Relationships
Bible Story: Jacob and Esau | Genesis 32-33
Key Verse: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways remember him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
  1. LEARN the Key Verse together. What does it mean and why is its message important? How is it helpful in your friendships? How is it helpful during your school days?
  2. WATCH the video below as a family, and share what stood out to you.
  3. SHARE about a silly argument that you’ve been in with one of your friends. How do your friends make up after an argument? Pray together that you would be quick to forgive and even quicker to ask God for help in your friendships.
  4. CHECK OUT the midweek activity page. Use this in your family or for your family-friendly home church.
